About the Transfer Tracker

The Transfer Tracker collates official data published by the Department of Home Affairs (formerly the Department of Immigration and Border Protection) between September 2012 and June 2018 about the number of people transferred to the regional processing centres (RPCs) in Nauru and on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea (PNG). It includes monthly data about the number of people residing in each RPC, the progress of refugee status determination (RSD) in Nauru and PNG, the progress of resettlement of refugees to third countries, and the number of people repatriated from Nauru or PNG to their country of origin. The Transfer Tracker is accompanied by explanatory notes which provide further information about the figures contained in the tracker, and the sources of the data used.

Please see the explanatory notes (PDF) for details and sources.

The Tracker was last updated August 2018.
